This is primarily a northern species, most common in the colder parts of VT.
Identification: T1 and most of T2 are covered in pale hairs, with the remaining terga and all the scopal hairs dark.
Similar Species: Most similar to the Black-and-gray Leafcutter Bee (Megachile melanophaea). Females are often not separable from photos, though M. gemula males are distinct in have dark front legs.
