The Checklist of the Wild Bees (Apoidea: Anthophila) of Vermont is derived from literature, specimens, and photographs collected and verified by the Vermont Wild Bee Survey.

This checklist—the first comprehensive checklist and conservation assessment of the bee fauna for the state—is based on approximately 80,000 open-access data records available from the Vermont Atlas of Life (VAL) and the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF).

We confirmed 351 species and 1 morphospecies representing 39 genera from all six bee families known for North America. This bee survey added 254 species to the 98 documented for Vermont in the seminal work by Mitchell in the 1960s, plus recorded nine species previously unknown from New England (Hardy et al. 2025).
