This black and yellow species is tied to perennial sunflowers in July - September. So far the only Vermont records have come from the iNaturalist community in 2020. Its distribution in New England appears to be limited to a relatively small area between Albany NY, southwest VT, and northwest MA.

Identification: One of few species in the tribe Anthidiini likely to be on sunflowers. Should be identifiable from clear photos.

Similar Species: The yellow shoulder pads should separate this species from the rare Northeastern Pebble Bee (Dianthidium simile).
