VPAtlas is the most comprehensive database of vernal pool information ever assembled for the state of Vermont.

Vernal Pool Mapping Project

The VPAtlas is an outgrowth of the Vernal Pool Mapping Project, which VCE initiated in 2008 along with Arrowwood Environmental. During the first four years of the Vernal Pool Mapping Project (2009-2012), more than 4,800 “potential” vernal pools were mapped statewide using remote-sensing methods. Of those, nearly 900 were field-verified. The Vermont Vernal Pool Atlas

In 2020 we introduced VPAtlas to archive field-verified and potential pools, and encourage citizens to participate and increase our knowledge about vernal pool locations in Vermont. Search the database, add pools you know about, visit unverified pools, submit data, and upload photos. Visit VPAtlas to start exploring!
