Neurocordulia obsoleta (Umber Shadowdragon)
Owing to their crepuscular habits, shadowdragons are somewhat under-surveyed in Vermont. We’re still gathering data on our known shadowdragon — Stygian Shadowdragon. But Umber Shadowdragon is a worthy target as well. It flies on big rivers in southern New Hampshire and eastern New York. So it’s likely somewhere in between here in Vermont.

As if often the case with this genus, surveying for nymphs or exuviae is your best bet. Look on big rivers with some cobble and current.
