This is a moderately distinctive, fall species most often found on Asters in mid-August through September. Several nest aggregations have been found along the margins of dirt driveways.
Identification: Large, with distinct white hair bands on T1-T5. Fresh females have a pale yellow color to the hair on their thorax. Males have yellow on the clypeus and surrounding face.
Similar Species: Andrena braccata is the most similar species, but can usually be distinguished by the sparser, browner body hairs (see that page for additional differences).
