This is a small, late fall bee that is local and/or uncommon in VT, usually found on asters or goldenrods and perhaps associated with sand.
Identification: Small, with very distinct hair bands on the abdomen. Also look for clear wings and shiny patches on the top of the thorax.
Similar Species: Most similar to Cloudy-winged Mining Bee (Andrena nubecula) but has paler wings. That species usully holds its wings at a 45 degree angle when foraging, vs. A. canadensis which often has its wings folded over its back (like most other bees).
