Lestes inaequalis (Elegant Spreadwing)Widely scattered in Vermont. Most likely found associated with ponds and lake edges, though marshes with some open water are also possible sites. Unlike most Lestes, this species is found in association with fish. It is one of our early-season Lestes species with abundance peaking in late June and early July. It is possible that a focus on collecting in river habitats during June has limited our records of this pond- and lake-dwelling spreadwing
