Epitheca canis (Beaverpond Baskettail) Our most widely distributed Epitheca is well represented in all regions of the state, with the exception of the Connecticut River Valley and perhaps high elevations. The most likely baskettail to be found at ponds and peatlands with open water where it can be quite common. Among our earliest flying Anisoptera, often encountered working a small, zig-zag patrol area near natal waters.
