This species is only known from a single specimen collected on a Blueberry farm in Chittenden County in 2014. It occurs across the northern hemisphere in cold, mountainous areas.

Identification: Slightly larger than many of the other Osmia in the state, this species should be identifiable by the dark body with abundant pale hairs.

Females are 10 mm in length, males are 9 mm in length.

Similar Species: There are two other dark, northern species (O. nigriventris and O. laticeps) that are similar, but have not yet been found in VT.

Status:

Global Status: Secure.
