Plathemis lydia (Common Whitetail)Among Vermont’s most ubiquitous dragonfly species, occurring in every biophysical region and a variety of habitats. Least likely to be found in the southeastern quarter of the state, perhaps owing to sampling bias and relatively fewer breeding sites. It prefers lakes, ponds (including constructed ponds) and slow-moving streams.
