Gomphus exilis (Lancet Clubtail)Perhaps owing to its cosmopolitan habitat preferences, this small clubtail is well distributed across Vermont, but with scarce records from the Connecticut River Valley. Males in particular can be found resting on rocks near ponds, rivers and streams. In all likelihood the most common member of the subgenus Phanogomphus to be found in the Champlain Valley. Its small size and blue eyes make this a distinctive member of that somewhat homogenous group.
