The Spotted-winged Grasshopper is widespread throughout the United States but is more commonly found in the southern U.S. and along the east coast.
It is found in herbaceous wetland areas, as well as grassland/herbaceous and suburban/orchard environments. It also inhabits conifer, hardwood, and mixed woodland areas.
It is also called the Chromatic Pasture Grasshopper and Green Desert Grasshopper.
In Florida adults are found year round, while in Wyoming they are found in July and August.
iNaturalist shows observations every month of the year, with peaks in June and September.
