sat on post that holds up my clothesline at corner of deck

Description of Vocalizations

groups of steady tweeting all on one tone -- fit perfectly with the Cornell website call for prothonotary warbler

Verbal Narrative & Description of Observation

As with the summer tanager I just reported, it was an unfamiliar bird song that alerted me to the presence of this bird. I went out the front door to see where the song was coming from. Then came back in and realized it was loudest out my back door. Looked out and saw a warbler-sized bird sitting on the post of my clothesline - only about 15' from me at the corner of the deck

Relative Size & Shape

typical warbler size. plain yellowish head was the most obvious thing -- no particular markings, not really bright yellow. rest of body was yellowish gray to gray

IMPORTANT: What similar species were eliminated when making the identification and how was this bird different?

female yellow warbler -- eliminated because of the song that was not that of the yellow warbler

Other Notes & Comments

female? or immature male?
