| Verbal Narrative & Description of Observation | Medium sized woodpecker flew across in front of me while driving north on VT Rte. 12. Bird had large white patches on wings and bright red head, both features highly visible. |

| IMPORTANT: What similar species were eliminated when making the identification and how was this bird different? | Pileated woodpecker, too small and red head was a big identifying factor. It was too distinctive in size and coloration from all other native Woodpeckers. |
