mixed field and forest. American crows present nearby

characteristic nasal caw, almost musical.

two birds perched in tree, calling. have been hearing vocalizations often all summer but ne ver with visual confirmation from nearby american crows

appeared smaller, small headed, not as stocky as american crows. a cross between a grackle and an american crow

IMPORTANT: What similar species were eliminated when making the identification and how was this bird different?

American crow- several were perched nearby the fish crows- Fish crows looked delicate, american crows stocky. Voice very obviously different- sounds fluid compared to harsh American crow caw

Have heard fish crow calls 1/week or so this summer but have not reported species because I wanted a visual confirmation
