Very familiar birds. I have seen many over the years (and many Western Meadowlarks as well in Colorado, where they are abundant).

I certify that any attachments included with this report were captured during this observation event.
Description of Habitat

Fallow snow-covered farm fields

Behaviors Observed

Flying between field and road

Description of Vocalizations

Silent

Verbal Narrative & Description of Observation

Previously reported here, just south of the intersection of Leicester-Whiting Road and Sawyer Needham Road. Brown back, conspicuous white outer tail feathers. Chunky shape, straight, direct flight with rapid intermittent wingbeats. Making repeated short flights between the field and the road, often landing right in the middle of the road. Unfortunately I never got to the see the front of the bird, and traffic and the absence of a shoulder on the road prevented me from staying longer.

Relative Size & Shape

Stocky, meadowlark-shaped

Upper Back

brown

Lower Back & Rump

brown

Tail

White outer tail feathers

IMPORTANT: What similar species were eliminated when making the identification and how was this bird different?

Nothing that I can think of is brown, stocky, and has conspicuous white outer tail feather.
