Behaviors Observed

Flew into our picture window. I picked it up and held it for 10-15 minutes until it flew off.

Verbal Narrative & Description of Observation

Bird hit my window. I picked it up and held it for 10-15 minutes while it recovered, and then it flew off. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of it.

IMPORTANT: What similar species were eliminated when making the identification and how was this bird different?

Hairy and downy - no noticeable white on back or tail, longer beak than downy, no white on top of head, larger than downy. Definite bars across the back.
