| Description of Habitat | Open lawn area in front of house with small circular garden and a large feeder at end area closest to house. |
| Behaviors Observed | Standing. Flew in, flew out. Sheer happenstance that I turned to look and bird was there. |
| Description of Vocalizations | none |
| Verbal Narrative & Description of Observation | I can monitor my feeder from my home office which I had been doing for 4 hrs prior to sighting the VATH. I saw a robin sized bird with distinctive orange markings on the ground near my feeder. Day's tally entered into ebird. |
| Relative Size & Shape | Robin size and shape. Photo is much more 'descriptive' than any written description. |
| Head | Dark head, orange eye line, orange throat |
| Feet & Bill | Dark, robin/thrush length bill, yellow legs |
| Upper Back | Dark |
| Lower Back & Rump | Dark. Too intent on getting a picture to rally notice. |
| Wings | Two rows of orange spots on dark wing - top row more spots, bottom row more an orange wing bar |
| Breast, Belly, Flanks, Under Tail Coverts | Orange throat, belly orange flowing into white |
| Tail | dark, medium length |
| IMPORTANT: What similar species were eliminated when making the identification and how was this bird different? | Didn't really need to eliminate anything but a robin due to orange markings |
