| Description of Habitat | A strip of invasive deciduous scrub and junipers along a large cattail marsh and beaver pond border by suburban house on one side and farm field on the other. YEWA associating with a single chickadee |
| Behaviors Observed | Following a chickadee that approached me in response to pishing. Flitting through 15' high brush, maybe a bit on the slower side for a warbler |
| Description of Vocalizations | Silent |
| Verbal Narrative & Description of Observation | Without binos I noticed a yellow bird, which was immediately ID as a YEWA through binoculars. I watched it for several minutes with relatively good views. Another minute or two spent trying to document with my phone |
| Relative Size & Shape | A chubby warbler |
| Head | Clean yellow face with a large dark eye |
| Feet & Bill | Thickish bill, perhaps a grayish-pink. Legs were pale |
| Upper Back | A dull greenish-yellow |
| Lower Back & Rump | A dull greenish-yellow |
| Wings | Slightly greener than back, no markings |
| Breast, Belly, Flanks, Under Tail Coverts | A brighter yellow (including under tail coverts). Dingy greenish streaking on breast |
| Tail | I did not notice the diagnostic tail pattern |
| IMPORTANT: What similar species were eliminated when making the identification and how was this bird different? | The thick bill and large eye immediately said YEWA, the yellow under tail coverts eliminate TEWA and the lack of facial markings along with the thick bill eliminate OCWA |
| Other Notes & Comments | Likely an immature, no red on chest |
