| Observer’s Previous Acquaintance With This or Similar Species | I grew up in a Northern Bobwhite habitat and have 40+ years of intimate familiarity with this species. |

| Description of Habitat | The homestead is a few acres of cleared area within a mixed hardwood forest. There are powerline cuts, mowed fields, ponds, and a few buildings nearby and other homesteads about a 1/2 mile away. |
| Description of Vocalizations | Classic "Bob-white' call/song issued twice within about ten seconds from each other right around 7:00pm on 5/20/18. |
| Verbal Narrative & Description of Observation | The vocalization described above sounded as though it was emanating from some portion of woods or field edge on the Southwest side of the house at least a couple hundred feet away but no more than about 500 feet away. I am not sure that the geographical features of the home and landscape there did not reflect the sound. So, it could possibly have come from the north side of the house but most assuredly not the south, southeast, or east. |
| IMPORTANT: What similar species were eliminated when making the identification and how was this bird different? | The NOBO call/song is so distinctive and well known to me that there are no alternatives to consider. |
| Other Notes & Comments | I make no claims as to the provenance of this bird. I do not know if there is aviculture nearby but there is evidence of it. A Chukar visited this homestead for about one month in December of 2016. The homeowner has a photograph of the Chukar. The Chukar was very comfortable being near the house and did not seem to be terribly frightened of the humans living in it. |
