This poorly known species is one of the most unexpected finds of the Vermont Wild Bee Survey. Primarily known from the Midwest, this species is thought to be a associated with prairie habitat, though recent records are few and far between. Two specimens have been collected in Vermont, both from Malaise traps in the southern Champlain Valley.

 

Identification: This moderately sized Megachile species is best recognized by the uniquely elongated mandibles.
