Occurrence Status: Confirmed
Identification: A large, bright blue Osmia. Relatively distinct.
Distribution: Abundant in collections from around the state until at least the late 2000’s. Only three males were found in 2019, all from the Saint Michael’s Natural Area. A spring species, this species is likely an important pollinator of apples and blueberries. There is some evidence that it is being replaced by two non-native Osmia in the same subgenus (O. cornifrons and O. taurus).
