Perithemis tenera (Eastern Amberwing)This dainty and colorful dragonfly is scattered primarily in low elevation areas of Vermont such as the Champlain Valley, Vermont Valley and near the Connecticut River. It has yet to be found in seven of Vermont’s northern counties. Prefers vegetated ponds and sheltered inlets of large lakes and rivers. Though small, its brightly colored wings and habit of perching on vegetation in the open water make it easy to spot where it does occur.
